AFA partnered with Give A Note Foundation for it’s 3rd annual Official SXSW event. The challenge was to create a multi-faceted social impact experience for the foundation, partners/sponsors and attendees.

Simultaneously, AFA was also tasked with launching Artist For Action at SXSW to shine a spotlight on gun violence prevention and bring new artist ambassadors into the coalition.

Process

In partnership with Give A Note and SXSW, AFA created, built and branded “Take Action x SXSW” securing two back to back Official SXSW Showcase nights at Mohawk, one of the most sought after venues in Austin. The flexibility of two nights allowed AFA to deftly curate and combine efforts for both Give A Note Foundation and Artist For Action. The team programmed over 35 artists across two stages. The Headliners included Slick Rick, Just Blaze, Bootsy Collins & Friends along with a supporting cast of developing and International talent.

AFA also programmed a Music Industry Day Summit in venue with over 30 panelists including stakeholders and C-level Executives from Billboard, Bandsintown, Music Managers Forum - US and more.  A dedicated RSVP registration page was built to track attendees. In addition to the Summit, AFA created additional onsite impact with HeadCount and leveraged a partnership with SixDegrees.org, Building Kits by Kevin Bacon and Matthew McConaughey’s just keep livin Foundation to provide essential item to Title I Austin schools.

Results

AFA created enormous impact resulting in over 3500 attendees with RSVPs across both days. AFA brought in a diverse group of Partners including Amuse, Audix, Bandsintown, American Songwriter, MMF-US, Gibson, Poppi and more to support the initiatives. Rolling Stone highlighted the showcases with two articles. The organic content and digital footprint resulted in over 167M impressions. Over 22,000 essential items were delivered to Austin Title I schools.
