Taking a public stance on a social issue can be a major career decision for any artist. It can alienate some audiences, attract new ones, create press cycles you can't control, and reshape how brands and partners see you. It can also be the thing that gives your career real staying power.

If you work around artists & creatives, you've likely seen what happens when mental health goes unaddressed. Cancelled dates. Stalled releases. Careers that burn bright and disappear. And while the industry might have gotten comfortable talking about mental health; talking isn't a sustainable system. This panel, moderated by Cayley Tull of Let Music Fill My World, focused on what it looks like when mental health work goes beyond awareness and into action.

Imagine running a sales-oriented business without knowing the first thing about any of your customers. It sounds absurd, but it's how the live music industry has operated for most of its history.

The role of the music manager hasn't changed, but the music industry has. There are more platforms, more revenue streams, and more decisions to make: but less people with less bandwidth than before. What's a manager to do?

Everyone in the music industry is talking about superfans right now. But what they're really saying is "we want to extract more money from fans." Here's a warning: Fans are smart. They're sophisticated. They will call you out.

Most artists know they should register their songs. Fewer know that registration is step one of about four. A lot of times, money they're owed sits stuck in a queue while awaiting the correct paperwork.

Since launching in 2023, the now-annual Take Action x SXSW event series has grown into one of the most anticipated programming blocks at SXSW. This year, Artist For Artist® produced a two-day run at Inn Cahoots, presented by Let Music Fill My World, Artist For Action® and powered by Bandsintown and Music Managers Forum-US. The event series was headlined by Passion Pit , John Popper of Blues Traveler , Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show , Five For Fighting and Neil Girald

To maximize impact, this event needed to be more than your average, boring conference. It had to inspire attendees towards collaboration. Here's how we achieved just that:
