Take Action x SXSW is one of Artist For Artist®'s flagship event series, a recurring Official SXSW platform built on a single premise: pairing the festival's massive reach with cultural impact and social good.
The series began in 2022 with Give A Note Foundation as presenting partner, and has returned every year since, growing in scope, scale, and ambition. Across five editions, AFA has programmed iconic and breakthrough talent including Sammy Hagar & The Circle, The Warning, Robby Krieger of The Doors, Talib Kweli, Dennis Quaid, Bartees Strange, Slick Rick, Just Blaze, Bootsy Collins, Everclear, Ginuwine, Aly & AJ, Passion Pit, Five For Fighting, Old Crow Medicine Show, and Blues Traveler. Partners and sponsors have spanned Netflix, Gibson, American Songwriter, Bandsintown, Music Managers Forum-US, Audix, Sandy Hook Promise, Artist For Action®, Let Music Fill My World, and many more.
The 2026 edition marked the series' most ambitious chapter yet: a two-day program at Inn Cahoots fusing headline showcases, an impact-driven summit, and immersive cultural moments into one multi-day experience inside SXSW's Music Week.

Process
AFA launched the concept alongside Give A Note Foundation in 2022. The first edition was a one-day, high-impact showcase headlined by Sammy Hagar & The Circle, leveraging Gibson, OWC, and Sammy's own spirits brands as sponsoring partners. In 2023, the format grew into a sold-out night at the Belmont with Robby Krieger of The Doors, Dennis Quaid, Talib Kweli, and Bartees Strange, with Netflix, Uncle Nearest Whiskey, Gibson, and Duravo Luggage as sponsors and an American Songwriter flyaway giving one fan over $25,000 in prizing.
In 2024, we created, built, and branded Take Action x SXSW as a named series, expanding to two nights with 35+ artists across two stages, headlined by Slick Rick, Just Blaze, and Bootsy Collins & Friends. The edition added a Music Industry Day Summit with 30+ panelists, on-site activations with HeadCount, SixDegrees.org, Building Kits by Kevin Bacon, and just keep livin Foundation, and served as the SXSW launchpad for Artist For Action® - an artist coalition centering gun violence prevention & mental health. In 2025, Sandy Hook Promise came on as lead partner alongside Artist For Action®. The 2025 edition opened with a showcase night headlined by Everclear, followed a Day Summit on mental health in music and a sold-out Empire finale featuring Ginuwine and Aly & AJ that doubled as the live premiere of Sandy Hook Promise's PSA "A Teddy Bear's Dream".
In 2026, AFA expanded the platform into its largest edition yet: two days at Inn Cahoots presented by Let Music Fill My World and Artist For Action®, with Bandsintown and Music Managers Forum-US as partners. Panels covered artist rights, the evolving role of managers, mental health, and the power of live in an AI-driven world, with voices from BMI, SoundExchange, Bandsintown, and TuneCore. Headliners included Passion Pit, Five For Fighting, Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, and John Popper of Blues Traveler, alongside an immersive Dolby Atmos listening session with Slick Rick aboard the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus and a screening of the documentary Louder Than Guns. Throughout, Let Music Fill My World's Music Matters Challenge offered attendees a shot at over $335,000 in prizes.
Across all three years, we have handled full-service production of the "Take Action" concept: venue sourcing, talent booking, panel and summit curation, digital & print design and production, sponsorship integration, merch, content capture, and on-site execution.
