Since launching in 2023, the now-annual Take Action x SXSW event series has grown into one of the most anticipated programming blocks at SXSW. This year, Artist For Artist® produced a two-day run at Inn Cahoots, presented by Let Music Fill My World, Artist For Action® and powered by Bandsintown and Music Managers Forum-US. The event series was headlined by Passion Pit, John Popper of Blues Traveler, Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show, Five For Fighting and Neil Giraldo.

The official recap for this year's edition of "Take Action x SXSW", produced top-to-bottom by Artist For Artist®

Day One: The Summit

Our annual Music & Impact Summit kicked off the first day of action. Panels covered artist rights, royalties, mental health in the industry & beyond, featuring speakers from BMI, SoundExchange, TuneCore and Bandsintown (see & listen to all panels here!). Moderators included MMF-US President Neeta Ragoowansi, Bandsintown Co-Founder Fabrice Sergent, and LMFMW Co-Founder Cayley Tull, alongside our very own Matthew Reich.

Nightime saw Passion Pit, Five For Fighting, and Ketch Secor of Old Crow Medicine Show perform alongside breakthrough talent across two stages; bringing warmth, community & excitement to a surprisingly chilly Austin.

Day Two: Film, Legacy, and Storytelling

Day two began with two intimate storytelling moments. We hosted a screening and Q&A of Louder Than Guns, a documentary on gun violence in America, with Ketch Secor, journalist David Greene, and Artist For Action® co-founder Mark Barden in conversation. Later that afternoon, hip-hop icon Slick Rick joined us for a masterclass on creativity in venue and also aboard the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus for an immersive Dolby Atmos listening session centered on his new visual album VICTORY.

John Popper of Blues Traveler closed the night on the outdoor stage, capping two days of music, conversation, and community.

The Music Matters Challenge

Running across both days, Let Music Fill My World's Music Matters Challenge put over $335,000 in prizes on the floor — including limited edition SXSW merch capsules. It's part of LMFMW's ongoing push to champion music education and keep the mission visible. Learn more and join the challenge right here!
